The line engraving series is a series were Delhez used a different engraving technique than he normaly used. The engravings are made on copper, sometimes with dry needle (very labor intensive) and a few times the original copperplate is converted to aqua vitae were a aqueous solution of ethanol was used. We have not much information concerning this series. In the Breda catalog, the usual information such as dates is not listed, so we are not 100% sure where the majority of the works in this series were made. Some works are certainly made in Chacras de Coria because the subject is the birth of Delhez’s children.
All engravings in this series are preceded by the letters MET because they were engraved on metal instead of wood Delhez mostly used. We have divided the works into different sub-series. In the subseries column you will see a certain code consisting of a few letters and a number. The legend below gives you more information about what these letter codes want to say. The number after the letter code is the sequence number of this series.
