S219 – Little boat like any other

This is a work from the ‘Bagatel Lino’s’ series. It consists of ten different groups and has a total of 55 linoleum cuts. This engraving is one from group two. These works are simply abstract and Delhez makes a little misuse of the word anecdotal for the abstract, according to the latest taste, is inferior to the abstract concrete by virtue of the more or less distant relationship it maintains with the forms of nature or of existing objects which, through a peculiar turn in modern dialectical conceptions, possess abstraction.

This work was created between the June and  August 1952 in Chacras de Coria (Argentina). Next to the signature there is also something written in French, (making this work unique) but we can’t decipher it. Delhez’s handwriting is often unreadable. It looks like it’s the title of the work, but we’re not sure about that.
