DD15 – Winter

$632,03

A very sad engraving inspired by the war between Germany and Russia during the hard winter. One day someone brought Delhez a dried-up bird that was still in the nest. The same dried-up bird and nest can be found in this work as a vague shadow together with the broken tree, the sunken tank and a fallen helmet.

This work was made in Chacras de Coria (Argentina) between the 14th of May and the 16th of November 1942. Both prints are embedded in a passe-partout.
