DD12 – Le Revenant

Inspired by the poem of the same name by Charles Baudelaire. This engraving was the result of a sketch Delhez made of the model that inspired him to make the first in the series of Study Without Support (Torbellinos). Delhez was especially interested in the foreshortening combined with the perspective. Delhez again engaged the model for this series, but gave her a skull in this work.
This work was made in Chacras de Coria (Argentina) between the 12th of May and the 2nd of June 1941. This work comes in a passe-partout with a (removable) protective film over the engraving.
