DD4 – Hunt
$843,06
The bird – in this case a kingfisher – already shows a skull before the bullet that a man fires at him hits its target. Delhez has always said that almost all themes of the Dance Of Death series are due to chance. In this case, someone had given him a dead kingfisher. Delhez first drew it with open wings and then placed the dead bird in an ant’s nest. A week later, only a skeleton of the dead bird remained, which allowed Delhez to draw the skull in the engraving completely truthfully.
This work was made in Totoral (Argentina) between the 14th and the 29th of September 1939.
