S464 – Tijl Uilenspiegel

The title of this work is not sure. As of S274 we don’t have accurate information concerning the works in the Sortiment series since our source (The Breda Catalog) only counts to S274. Sometimes the S number is written on the engraving, sometimes not. Sometimes it has a title, sometimes not. In the Breda Catalog that we have, someone has added handwritten numbers, but without further description or information in most cases. It is a bit of searching here.

This work shows a kind of self-portrait of Delhez, but as the folkloric figure Tijl Uilenspiegel by the Belgian writer Charles de Coster (1827-1879). It comes in a passe-partout with a (removable) protective film over the engraving.
