S68 – Study without support I
€899,00
This engraving is the first one in the Study Without Support series and a series where Delhez exclusively worked with compositions of nudes, despite the baroque character that characterizes these compositions. The series was actually made as an example for the students of his composition course, with which he also wants to prove that he has mastered the material of the course he teaches. This engraving is technically the most fascinating of the series because in this work the lines of the three figures in the foreground are continued in the three other figures. This work was created in Chacras de Coria (Argentina) between the 17th of October 1940 and the 28th of December 1941.
The study without support series is also known as ‘Torbellinos’ and therefore they are sometimes numbered T 1 to T7. However, we use the S number. The full series includes S68, S69, S71, S72, S73, S77 and S78, of which we only have the numbers S68 and S72 in our possession.
The price of works from this series is a bit higher than most other engravings in the Sortiment series because this is one of Delhez’s more famous series. This work comes in a passe-partout with a (removable) protective film over the engraving.
