DD36 – Herod-legend (Collectors item)
€1995
Every year on April 1, the children come to Herod’s tomb, who flees in horror, but the children follow him and sing Christmas carols. Wherever Herod flees, he is chased away. He also passes by hanging men who weave a cord and thrash him with it. Eventually he arrives at a house where an unborn child enters the limbus as a soul. Herod exclaims: “I killed as a king, but this one here kills as a mother, that’s much worse!”
This work was made in Chacras de Coria (Argentina) between the 17th of January 1953 and the 20th of January 1956.
ATTENTION : On the back of this engraving there is a test print of another engraving with an unknown title (available as X1 in the category unknown works) but it has no signature from Delhez. Still it makes this work a true collectors item, so that’s why the price of this work is higher than other works in this series.
