FD73 – Svidrigailov in the pleasure garden
$629,61
(Dostoyevsky Series 3 – Crime and Punishment)
“…there was a thin little tree and three shrubs…a chorus of repulsive singers…” Svidrigailov’s white beard, who sits together with the notaries, is here rendered spade-shaped and forms the whitest part of the engraving. The atmosphere apparently could not miss this gentleman that Dostoyevsky was so concerned about in the last part of his novel.
This work was made in Chacras de Coria (Argentina) between the 6th of October and the 24th of December 1946.
