FD76 – Svidrigailov’s hallucination
(Dostoyevsky Series 3 – Crime and Punishment)
“Is it possible? At the age of barely five, Svidrigailov stammered in dismay.” In this engraving it is noted that Dostoyevsky does not shy away from the extremes, but how these extremes at the same time retain their value. This is precisely because they are extremes against the nature of the writer and of his people. Today they are no longer extremes, but everyday facts.
This work was made in Chacras de Coria (Argentina) between the 30th of August 1946 and the 21st of January 1947.
