FD80 – The drunk man dances, Raskolnikov kisses the earth
$729,07
(Dostoyevsky Series 3 – Crime and Punishment)
“Among the tumultuous people a drunkard tried to dance, but could not keep himself upright…Raskolnikov knelt and kissed the earth…” This engraving clearly shows a double stage in the open air, but this is separated by a row of houses so the two parts have a different kind of light, which also makes an unmistakable evenness in the dance noticeable. Raskolnikov is seen twice and Sonia is spying on him.
This work was made in Chacras de Coria (Argentina) between the 7th of October 1946 and the 4th of May 1947.
