The Christ figure stands out because of its extremely masculine character. It is precisely the attitude that broadens this capacity. The woman from Magdala (Mary Magdalena) is feminine to the same extent. There is no prudishness or puritanism here. It is precisely because of this that the dismay of the Pharisees arises. The attitude of Jesus cannot be called weak or sweet. This one is as loose and sure as the gentlemen’s, hence their dogged and thoughtful wrath.
