E22 – The wonderful fish catch

Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. (Luke V, 5 – 6)

Jesus stands at the helm of the ship and receives the worship of Peter. Three apostles pull the net in a cinetic-progressive move that goes from taking up the net to making the sign for help. The tranquility in this engraving contrasts sharply with E39 (Punishment of wind and water waves) where Jesus calms a storm.

This work was made in Cocaraya (Bolivia) between the 25th of March and the 17th of May 1935.
