B24 – Une gravure fantastique

The 24th engraving in the Les Fleurs Du Mal series. Delhez has the following anecdote about this engraving: “I would never place the sun in an engraving where it stands in this work. It is an anti-compositional arrangement, but it’s there due to a feather that broke loose and that had put a large irregular spot on the work. I worked on that spot and the end result was that the sun was never really in such a correct place as in this engraving, although it was actually an accident.”

This work belongs to the first series of five called ‘Spleen et Idéal’.
