E56 – The weed sower
$1.049,55
“But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.” (Matthew XIII, 25 – 26)
Just like in some engravings from the S series, we also see a typical picture of the area around Totoral (Argentina) where Delhez lived and worked for a while. The enemy in this engraving is the devil who sows while the workmen enjoy their afternoon nap. The white sun and the sky are synonymous with the silence, the opposite of the darkness that the enemy drags with him.
This work was made in Totoral (Argentina) between the 7th of December 1938 and the 2nd of February 1939.
