E7 – The star of the shepherds

“An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” (Luke II, 9-10)
The star and the angels help the less evolved shepherds here. We can see the same landscape as in the previous engraving (E6 – The star of the wise), but much more faithful and seen from a different point of view. If you look closely you will also see a house, which is a house that Delhez and his good friend Edgar Ernalsteen built on the hill near Cocaraya. On the other side of the hill is Sipe-Sipe, a historical site (although only one historical battle has taken place in history) that is more common in Delhez’s works.
This work was made in Cocaraya (Bolivia) between the 7th of May and 14th of June 1934.
