E91 – The women in the grave

“As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.” (Mark XVI, 5 – 6)
The angel points out where Jesus lay. It is the same angel who terrified the guards, but here he talks confidentially with the women who still dwell in the dark. One of the women kisses the shroud, the other asks: “Is it really true that he ascended?”
This work was made in Chacras de Coria (Argentina) between the 25th of September and the 21st of November 1940.
