There are six characters on this ‘message to Mary’: The Angel, Joseph, Mary, Isais, Moses and the Baptist. The Angel’s wings form a cross. The tree stands as a principle of contradiction: The snake on the tree of Eve; the Angel on the tree of Mary. At the bottom you see Joseph who is working.
This is a landscape that Delhez saw from the window of his studio in Cocaraya. It is the valley of Cochabamba, although the river does not really exist, it is something Delhez has invented himself. This work was created in Cocaraya (Bolivia) between the 2nd of February and 1st of March 1934.
