E76 – Parable of the ten virgins
$1.049,55
“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise.” (Matthew XXV, 1 – 2)
This engraving is divided vertically by a sort of translucent church door with a cross. In front are the five wise virgins, who are ready to receive the husband with their waking light. Behind the gate you can see the five foolish virgins, with extinguished oil lamp, sorrowful and full of remorse. The figures look a bit like Gothic statues.
This work was made in Totoral (Argentina) between the 14th of September and the 24th of November 1939.
